There has been a spike in vandalism: to the bus stop information boards on Faringdon Road, the new fitness equipment on the recreation ground, benches and signs. Vandalism includes physical damage and graffiti. Luckily we live in a low crime area but I am sure you join me in wishing this to continue. All damage to Parish property involves expense in repair which is, ultimately, picked up by the community itself. There seems to be a growing tolerance of anti-social behaviour and an unwillingness to report or confront it. There are several ways you can help: Any incident of vandalism in progress should be reported immediately on 999; incidents not in progress can be reported on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-uk.org); anti-social behaviour can be reported on 101 or via the Vale District Council’s Community Safety Officer on 01235 422 590 (communitysafety@southoxon.gov.uk).
Of course, please also report any damage to the Parish Council via the Clerk or myself (01793 780329, watchfieldclerk@hotmail.co.uk, sue.nodder@watchfield.org). Thank you for your continuing support.
