Tree Planting

Tree Planting _ Watchfield
At last, the trees have arrived! A bit later than we would have liked but everything else has now been ordered to enable us to put in all the trees on Meadow View open space. The section within the gravel path was transferred to the Parish Council (minus the drainage basin) but many of the trees planted by the developer failed to thrive. These will be replaced and additional trees planted, including fruit and nut trees. Three larger trees will be planted to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee, in memory of some of our longer-term residents and to remember the contribution of all those who assisted during the Covid pandemic, as well as those we lost. There will also be some new seating. Each new tree will have an irrigation loop to aid watering and fencing to prevent some of the previous damage seen.
We invite you to help with the tree planting on 6th, 7th and 8th of May. We will be up there from 9:30am each day. Extra spades, buckets and wheelbarrows appreciated. Bring gloves and something to drink. Everyone welcome to help! Come along anytime for as long as you wish.
